The Old Man And Some Puppies

Image
I know this definitely happens in Britain and I assume it happens elsewhere. Every Christmas all of the big supermarkets will release elaborate adverts that usually have a story to them. John Lewis is particularly good at this, with the Penguins advert being a notable example. So far, so good…and then you realise that the only hint of it being an advert is at the end when the store name pops up. Not that Boomstick noticed himself. He was too busy crying over the puppies. I used fine liner to go over the lines, and I feel like it made the images stand out a lot more in contrast with my previous comics. The drawings still look pretty crude, but then again, as I said before, this is probably how Boomstick would draw things himself. X)

Social Distancing?

Image
To be honest, I've never been fond of the term "social distancing" - I prefer "physical distancing" or just simply "distancing". For me, "social distancing" gives the implication that people can only properly interact with each other in actual person and that they are essentially becoming hermits during this time. I know that was probably not the intended connotations, but being someone with a few introverted traits myself, it just comes off that way. I imagine that Boomstick clashes with Wiz plenty of times on the topic of introversion vs. extroversion. It's been established on a few occasions that Wiz prefers to stay inside rather than interact, whilst Boomstick seems like the type that wants to go outside and have interaction with others at the bars he constantly gets drunk in. He probably thinks that Wiz should get out and open up more. Honestly, I would say that both sides have a point here. Again, I used the same media as I did last...

Belle-mere - A Visual Poem

Image
Dead. Nothing poetic about that. Lying there on the ground, Sprawled out, Eyes open. Not much of a funeral either. Not enough money, y'know. Just found a casket, Slipped her into it. Buried it underground. Marked the gravestone. Scattered petals onto it. That was it. Rest in peace. I was the only one at this “funeral”, if you couldn't tell. Not very conventional. But then again, Mama was never the conventional type herself. She never took shit from anyone. More like a punk if you will with her tough attitude and Mohawk. But that was what I loved about her, And I guess I've taken after her too. I cried for days after Mama died. Don't you dare laugh. I'm not exaggerating. It would be full-on sniffling and sobbing in the morning (which I'd try to stifle with a beer or two). And just when it seemed all over, I'd start again some hours later. Mum?           ...

Boomstick's Problem-Free Philosophy

Image
I have always been a massive Death Battle! fangirl, ever since first watching it in 2014. In particular, I have shown great interest in the character of Boomstick, one of the two co-hosts of the show, despite common sense telling me to know better. On the one hand, he's an unashamed pervert obsessed with violence, guns and alcohol. But on the other hand, there's another side to him that serves to contradict what appear to be his most obvious traits. Being someone who likes to indulge in writing, I thought that I might do a series of fan comics focusing on Boomstick, both implementing traits shown in the original web series and implementing my own head canon for him. Most of it will be humorous, though there will definitely be more serious fare in the mix, as given the comments he has made on his parents and love life, his life in general seems to have been...tumultuous, say we say? Anyway, this is my first uploaded comic of the batch! Obviously my illustrations by web-comic st...
